“When people feel loved they are freer, more alive, and more powerful than we ever imagined.”

-Sue Johnson

All relationships hold the capacity for both sacred joy and deep pain. We tend to get stuck in cycles that threaten to derail our connection with the ones who matter most. We lose sight of one another in the daily grind and can’t seem to find our way back to a partner or maybe even to ourselves. That feeling of safety and respect slips away, and you get stuck in negative emotions that steal the love you once held for your partner. You reach out and feel rejected. You take space but feel lonely. You are not the only one. Like you, I’ve experienced negative relationship cycles in my 15-year marriage.

But I wholeheartedly believe that even when hope feels fleeting, partners can find their way back to each other. I even have the audacity to believe that when we feel most broken in our relationships, we are often at the precipice of an opportunity to build a more vibrant, intimate connection than we have ever experienced. It is a deep privilege and honor to be a guide who can witness the distress each partner is experiencing, discover the well-worn path that keeps you stuck, and support your relationship in forging a new way forward.

Your pain matters and deserves to be held with deep compassion. EFT creates a safe environment to talk about the hard things and begin to risk again so that you can move towards a freer, more grounded way of being.

I received my B.S. in Biology from Bridgewater College in 2006 and my M.S. in Counseling from John Brown University in 2010, preparing me for both Marriage and Family Therapy and Community Counseling. I am pursuing full certification in Emotion Focused Therapy, and am currently supervised by an International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) supervisor in training.

As a white, cis-gender, straight, able-bodied, privileged female, I take responsibility for committing to education and growth both personally and professionally. I strive to cultivate a space where people can embrace their most basic attachment needs without fear of persecution or marginalization as a result of race, religion, ethnic/national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, class, mental health, or disability.

When I’m not in the counseling office, you can find me enjoying a coffee with a friend or a good memoir, eating my way through the Asheville restaurant scene with my husband, or exploring the WNC rivers with my 3 girls and our golden Oakley.
