I specialize in collaborating with couples in distress to repair their relationships, heal attachment trauma, and foster secure, meaningful connection.

Counseling is a second career for me. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado in 2003, my Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego in 2008, and my Master of Social Work from Western Carolina University in 2023. At first glance my professional trajectory might seem peculiar but my motivation to pursue communication across difference, social justice law, and mental health counseling are all connected by a deep curiosity about human relationship, and a desire to learn effective approaches to promoting justice, healing, and repair, particularly in times of crisis. I moved from the practice of law into teaching and social justice advocacy and realized my true passion was helping people, one-on-one, in their personal lives, rather than a focus at the societal and systems levels.

I draw from humanistic, person-centered, and relational approaches to counseling. I believe curious, non-pathologizing examination of our relationship dynamics as well as our models, unexamined beliefs, and early attachment experiences that inform them, can lead to deep healing and repair. I have just begun my initial training in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy and approach my work through an attachment lens with an eye for relational patterns and cycles in each unique relationship. By understanding humans as inherently social beings, and identifying patterns that may be undermining deep connection, I support couples to express their emotional needs honestly and move towards empathy.

As a white, cis-gender, able-bodied female, I am committed to continual education and growth around the historical and social contexts that conceal privilege and promote disempowerment, as they pertain to us all both personally and collectively. I come from a trauma-aware and systems focused lens with an eye for the intersections of social location with human suffering, healing, and growth. My aim is to create a safe space where everyone is welcome to show up as they are and embrace their, and their loved ones, most basic safety and attachment needs.

When I am not working, you can find me at home cooking and hanging with my Tabby, Lorelei, out chasing waterfalls with my Golden, Tanner, or if I’m really lucky on some remote island with my partner on an epic scuba diving adventure.
